Thanksgiving

It is the holiday season, but it is also still bow season, thus I am sitting here at 4:00am making a blog entry as I think about the things I have to be thankful for and drink my much needed cup of coffee.

I am certainly thankful that I live in such a great country and have the opportunities that are available there within to every citizen. It may not be perfect, but alas it truly is great and all of this is due to our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, something that seems to be constantly under attack, which to me makes no sense. Freedom is a great thing that largely goes unnoticed until it is threatened or gone. I am thankful for so many things that it warrants much more than a blog entry.

I am thankful that I recently had the opportunity to write a book that has gone on to be published. Migrating to MariaDB has been signed off and off to production, which still amazes me. I never saw myself doing something like this, however I think it served to awaken me to the fact that there are so many possibilities in this country, in this world, that I have glossed over and not considered. It has opened my eyes to a wide array of things.

I have begun to consider combining my literary experience with my biggest passion, which is hunting, hunting with bow and arrow to be specific. I have definitely gained a wealth of knowledge over the years in pursuing the whitetail deer with bow and arrow and someone might find that interesting. Considering an e-book as a possible vehicle for this. I also have begun work on a follow up to Migrating to MariaDB, but I digress.

I am thankful for so many things, but the most important topic for me when it comes to being thankful is that I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful that they put up with me and that they just are. I am in my fifth year of fatherhood with my son and that boy has taught me so much in such a short time, and I am thankful for that. I do what I do for them…

It is time to go hit the woods, but anyhow I have not blogged much lately, but be forewarned as the technology aspect of my blog is about to kick back in with the next technology topic being about MariaDB backups!
